Creating a beautiful home doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune. Some of the most expensive-looking spaces are simply the ones where every detail feels intentional.
I’m a firm believer that a gorgeous mirror, the right lighting, or a little greenery can completely change the feel of a room. And while I love finding affordable alternatives to designer pieces, I also believe certain things are worth the splurge.
Here are five of my favorite ways to make a home feel more elevated, without completely redecorating or spending a small fortune.

1. Add a statement mirror
I have such a weakness for a beautiful mirror! It’s one of the easiest ways to make a room feel brighter, larger, and more finished.
An oversized mirror in an entryway, above a dresser, or behind a console can make such a difference. I especially love the vintage-inspired and arched designs that have that gorgeous designer look.
And the best part? You don’t necessarily have to pay designer prices to get it.

2. Don’t overlook your lighting
Lighting can completely change the feeling of a room.
A beautiful table lamp, a statement pendant, or even a decorative candle warmer can add so much personality. I love warm lighting that makes a space feel inviting instead of overly bright.
My favorite decorating trick is to use several smaller light sources rather than relying entirely on one overhead fixture.
I love these so much I bought 4 for my home. Then bought 2 more “Manly looking ones” for my son’s room and gaming room.

3. Bring in some greenery
I’m convinced almost every room looks better with a little greenery.
A tall faux olive tree or fiddle leaf fig can fill an awkward corner beautifully and add some much-needed height. And if keeping real plants alive isn’t your thing, there are some surprisingly realistic artificial options.
The trick is choosing something that looks natural and pairing it with a planter that complements your room. As hard as I try I can’t keep living things alive….Maybe I don’t talk enough to them…. Haha. These Gorgeous trees, not chatting with with the4m in required!

4. Make your home feel layered
One thing that makes a beautiful room stand out is texture.
Think soft throws, gorgeous bedding, pillows, woven baskets, and curtains that make a room feel finished.
You don’t need a dozen decorative pillows or an entirely new furniture set. Sometimes switching out a few textiles is all it takes.
I especially love mixing different textures while keeping the colors fairly cohesive.

I can just imagine snuggling down in this throw with my kindle!

I couldn’t live without this!!
5. Be selective with your decorative accents
This might be my favorite tip: you don’t have to fill every empty space.
A beautiful vase, a tray with a few favorite pieces, or one striking decorative object can make more of an impression than a shelf crowded with accessories.
Mix a few affordable finds with pieces you truly love. And don’t be afraid to leave a little breathing room.
